You can never have too many marketing outlets - either online or in newspapers, periodicals, TV, radio, direct mail, and networking events. List your site in as many places online as possible. You will find some places to list your business in the link list to the right, and provide a great way to let everyone know what your business is all about, how you are different from the competition, and how your services/product will benefit them.

Keywords Are Important

There are several free keyword tracking tools that you can find on the web that will help you determine what keywords are being searched frequently. You want to find keywords that have many searches, but few competitors. That way, you won't have as much work to do to get your web site ranked well in Google.

Once you have searched the keywords in your keyword tracking tool, try to find a domain name with the keyword (or keywords) in the domain name itself. Then use the keywords sparingly throughout the sales copy.

Some of the links over on the right hand side of this paragraph provide ways to improve your search engine ranking. Squidoo and Hubpages allow you to create your own website, much like Facebook and MySpace. Twitter has a unique twist on the concept in that it only allows updates of less than 100 characters, but links you to many other people.

Writing articles about your business and submitting them to places like ezinearticles.com is a great way to get people to visit your website. Write your articles in a way that addresses a problem or need, yet don't don't give them all of the information. Give them a reason to visit your website.

Google Maps is another way to promote your retail business. It is very easy to put a google map detailing your business name, address and location on your business. Here is how: click here and enter your business address in order to map it. Once your business address is mapped, click on the "Link To This Page" text at the upper right hand corner of the map. You then can cut and paste either the email or IM links or cut and paste the links to place on your web page. You then have a nice easy way of letting customers know how to get to your business. You may also customize the map to meet dimensions of the space on your web page.
